“You’ll never win like that” – Draymond Green schools NY Knicks fans for criticizing Mike Brown over their in-game hug. Green slams Knicks fans for finding unnecessary issues with him hugging their head coach mid-game.

New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown has recently found himself under fire from sections of the franchise’s fanbase — not for tactics or rotations, but for something far more trivial. Brown was criticized for embracing Draymond Green during and after a game in which Dray committed a flagrant foul on Knicks’ Karl Anthony Towns. The backlash was loud enough that some Knicks fans even called for Brown’s firing, a reaction that visibly irritated Green, who instantly addressed the misplaced outrage.

In fact, Draymond didn’t just clap back at NY fans but also reminded them how championship-winning bonds are much stronger than they could ever understand since they have never experienced this feeling themselves.

Draymond goes after Knicks fans
The bond between Brown and Green is hardly surprising. Mike served as the defensive architect for the Golden State Warriors during their championship runs in 2017, ’18 and ’22, while Dray was the defensive anchor who brought those schemes to life on the floor.

Their success was built on the trust, accountability and shared respect, so naturally when the two crossed paths, Green couldn’t help but share a friendly banter with Brown – both mid-game and after the final buzzer.

What surprised Draymond was the backlash that followed. Seeing Mike belittled for sharing a lighthearted moment he sparked, the latter decided to emphasize the depth of their brotherhood. More notably, Green also took a pointed dig at Knicks fans for their recurring habit of ignoring the real issue — something that lies at the core of why they haven’t won a championship in more than 5 decades.

“I see people like, ‘Oh, man, the front office gonna have to fire him.’ If they’re gonna have to fire him over that, everybody need to be wiped out. If this is the issue, you’ll never win like that. ‘People within the Knicks aren’t happy that Mike Brown hugged Draymond Green after a game in which Draymond committed a flagrant foul on Karl Anthony Towns.’ No. 1? This is basketball, you’re gonna get fouled. It wasn’t a hard foul, and if it was a hard foul, Karl Anthony Towns should’ve got up and defended himself. He didn’t. Because it wasn’t a hard foul,” Green said.

“Mike Brown and I won multiple championships together. He was at my wedding… that’s my dog… but if these guys are going to point to that, if these guys ever have the opportunity to win a championship, they’ll realize those relationships hit different,” he added.
